That's not a philosophical preference for one ad type; it's matching effort to where the return actually holds up over time.
What to check before your next planning cycle
Pull your last quarter of creative performance and plot install rate against creative age, split by format and by network. If you don't already track creative age as a first-class field in your reporting, that's the first fix — most creative dashboards default to campaign-level aggregation that hides exactly the signal you need.
Once you can see the actual curve, set a refresh trigger tied to a performance threshold rather than a calendar date for your top formats, and treat the calendar-based cadence as a fallback for lower-priority creative where the tracking overhead isn't worth it yet.
